Uche Jombo Condemns Online Exposure of Alexx Ekubo’s Widow Following Memorial Service
Nollywood actress Uche Jombo has expressed disappointment over the circulation of photographs and videos believed to be those of the wife of late actor Alexx Ekubo, describing the development as a violation of the privacy he carefully protected during his lifetime.
The controversy emerged after images of a woman reportedly identified as Ekubo’s widow began trending across social media platforms shortly after a service of songs held in honour of the deceased actor. The posts quickly gained traction online, sparking widespread discussions about a part of his personal life that had remained largely unknown to the public.
Reacting to the development, Jombo took to social media to criticize bloggers and online users who shared the content, arguing that Alexx Ekubo had intentionally kept his marriage away from public scrutiny in order to protect his family.
According to the actress, even many of the actor’s close friends respected his wishes and refrained from revealing details about his private life while he was alive.
She noted that the woman in question had attended the memorial service discreetly and reportedly wore a face mask in an apparent effort to avoid public attention. Despite this, videos and photographs of her were later circulated online and presented as breaking news.
Expressing her frustration, Jombo wrote:
“A husband who had been through public scrutiny kept his wife private to protect her. None of his close friends ever shared her picture. She wore a face mask to his service of songs. Yet somehow the privacy message didn’t register to bloggers. Woke up today to her videos and pictures all over my timeline as breaking news.”
The actress’ comments have sparked conversations about the boundaries between public interest and personal privacy, particularly in the entertainment industry where celebrities and their families are often subjected to intense public attention.
Prior to his death, there had been persistent speculation regarding Alexx Ekubo’s marital status. Many fans were unaware that the actor had reportedly entered into a private marriage, as he rarely discussed his personal relationships publicly.
In the months following his passing, some individuals close to him, including media personality Grace Makun, hinted that the actor had been married but deliberately chose to keep that aspect of his life away from the spotlight.
His family later confirmed that he had indeed been married before his death. Actor Williams Uchemba also acknowledged the marriage during an interview but declined to reveal details, maintaining that Ekubo had always valued his privacy and preferred that his family life remain out of public view.
Alexx Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40. According to his family, the actor died following complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer after a private battle with illness.
Since his passing, tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, friends, and fans, many of whom have remembered him for his talent, charisma, and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
