Ex-APGA Gov Candidate Reagan Ufomba Joins Labour Party

A former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State, Reagan Ufomba, has officially defected to the Labour Party.

Naija News reports that Ufomba, who recently quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was received into the LP alongside his supporters on Wednesday at Okpuala Ngwa, in Abia State.

The event was attended by Governor Alex Otti and leaders of the Labour Party in the state.

Receiving Ufomba and his supporters, Otti described the defection as a major boost to the Labour Party and the ongoing development efforts of his administration.

The governor said Ufomba’s decision to join the LP showed growing confidence in the party and the direction of governance in Abia State.

He commended the former APGA governorship candidate for his commitment to the development of the state and acknowledged his support for the administration’s reform agenda.

Otti said the Labour Party remained open to all citizens who were genuinely interested in building a better Abia.

The governor assured the new entrants that they would enjoy equal rights and opportunities within the party.

He said the LP was built on the principles of equity, inclusiveness and fairness, adding that Ufomba and his supporters would not be treated as outsiders.

“The interesting thing about Labour Party is that there is no discrimination.

“We don’t have old and new members,” Governor Otti said.

Otti urged members of the party to continue working together in unity, stressing that the task of rebuilding Abia required collective effort and commitment.

Earlier in his remarks, Ufomba thanked Otti and the leadership of the Labour Party in Abia State for receiving him and his supporters into the party.

He pledged his commitment to the growth and progress of the state under the platform of the LP.

Ufomba said he was ready to contribute meaningfully to the party and support the development programmes of the Otti administration.
