Emir of Gumel d!es in Egypt

The Emir of Gumel in Jigawa State, Alhaji Dr Ahmed Muhammad Sani II, CON, has died. The respected traditional ruler passed away on Thursday, September 3, in Egypt.

His death has thrown the Gumel Emirate and parts of Jigawa State into mourning, with tributes expected from traditional leaders, government officials, associates and residents. The late monarch served as the custodian of the Gumel traditional institution and provided leadership to the people of the emirate during his reign.

The Gumel Emirate is one of the historic traditional institutions in northern Nigeria and has played a longstanding role in the social and cultural affairs of its people. As Emir, Sani II was regarded as an important figure in the preservation of the emirate’s traditions and in efforts to promote peace, unity, cultural values and community development.

His death is expected to be deeply felt by members of the royal family, traditional title holders, community leaders and residents across the emirate. Prayers have been offered for Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, while his family, loved ones and the people of Gumel have also been prayed for to receive the strength and patience to bear the loss.
