Driver Raises Alarm As Unknown Individual Turns Part Of Accra Circle Overhead Into A Bedroom

A driver has raised concerns after spotting what appeared to be a makeshift bedroom set up beneath a section of the Circle overhead, questioning why such a structure would be allowed to exist on a major road in the first place.

In a video he recorded while driving at night, the man can be seen slowing down as his headlights catch a rubber-covered structure built directly along the roadway beneath the overhead.

Visibly troubled by the sight, he is heard questioning what the Ghana Police Service is doing about such structures springing up on the road, suggesting it reflects a worrying trend of individuals converting public roads and walkways into makeshift shelters.

Interestingly, no one was seen in or around the structure at the time the video was recorded, leaving its owner and purpose unconfirmed.

It is unclear whether the shelter is used permanently or only at certain times of the day or night.

The clip has since circulated online, with many social media users echoing the driver’s concerns, particularly around road safety and the potential dangers such structures could pose to both motorists and whoever may be occupying them after dark.

The incident has added to the ongoing conversations about squatting and informal shelters appearing in unconventional and sometimes hazardous locations across the city, with calls growing for the relevant authorities to take a closer look.
