Use Your Hands — Moment Kasoa Resident Collected Shovel From Thief And Forced Him To Clear Dirty Gutter With His Hands As Punishment For Stealing

Residents of Kasoa have taken matters into their own hands after apprehending a suspected thief, forcing him to clean one of the community’s dirtiest gutters as punishment for his alleged crime.

In a video circulating online, the man is seen standing knee-deep in the murky gutter, shovel in hand, digging through the filth as a group of area boys gathered around to watch.

Far from a quiet punishment, the young men took charge of the situation, barking instructions at him on how to work the shovel “efficiently” as he scooped out the grime.

Midway through the exercise, tempers appeared to flare among the group. Unsatisfied with his pace or effort, the area boys reportedly snatched the shovel from his hands and ordered him to continue clearing the gutter using his bare hands instead, chanting “Use your hands and give us the shovel” as he worked.

Visibly uncomfortable, the suspect pressed on with the grim task, seemingly out of fear of what might happen if he refused.

Reports suggest he complied largely because he did not want to risk being physically assaulted by the group.

The video has stirred debate online, with some residents defending the punishment as a fitting deterrent against theft in the area, while others have raised concerns about the growing trend of communities taking the law into their own hands instead of involving the police.

It remains unclear whether the matter has been formally reported to law enforcement.
