CAF Confirms Africa’s 10 Teams For 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the 10 countries that will represent Africa at the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar after Uganda claimed the final qualification spot.

Uganda sealed their place on Saturday with an 8-7 penalty shootout win over Ghana in the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2026 play-off. The match ended 2-2 after regulation time at CMVI-T11 before the East Africans held their nerve from the spot.

The result completed Africa’s line-up for the expanded 48-team tournament, with Mozambique also progressing through the play-off route.

CAF confirmed the continent’s representatives earlier today, May 24, with North and West African countries making up the bulk of the qualifiers.

Nigeria will not feature at the competition after the Golden Eaglets failed to qualify for the CAF U-17 AFCON, which serves as the pathway to the World Cup.

The FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026 is scheduled to run from November 19 to December 13.

Host nation Qatar will be joined by teams from all six confederations, including Argentina, Brazil, France, Spain, USA, Mexico, Japan and Saudi Arabia among the qualified countries.
