‘Buhari Is Supposed To Send Him To Jail’ – Kenneth Okonkwo’s Harsh Attack About Atiku Resurfaces Online

A throwback video of Nollywood actor-turned-politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, strongly criticising the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has resurfaced on social media.

The 2023 interview has generated fresh reactions online, coming just weeks after Atiku appointed Okonkwo as his official spokesperson ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In the viral interview on Channels Television, Okonkwo levelled several allegations against the former Vice President, accusing him of involvement in questionable consultancy payment arrangements through special purpose vehicles (SPVs).

According to the actor-turned-politician, Atiku had openly admitted to creating special purpose vehicles that allegedly established companies used to receive consultancy payments, which he claimed eventually found their way back to the former vice president.

“Atiku has confessed that he used special purpose vehicles to create phoney companies for which he paid consultancy fees, and from which the consultancy fees were paid back to him.

“He said it openly. His voice is there. Buhari is supposed to send him to jail.

“The two people that deserve prison, I don’t know what they are looking for in the presidency,” Okonkwo said during the interview.

Okonkwo also criticised Atiku’s response to allegations surrounding the Achimugu controversy, arguing that the former presidential candidate failed to properly address the claims when questioned publicly.

According to him, Atiku did not offer any substantive defence when the issue was raised during an interview with the BBC.

“Nobody has sued him for defamation, libel or slander.

“These are issues that the candidates themselves and their parties have controversially said do not exist.

“Atiku was asked about the issue of Achimugu by the BBC. You know what he said? ‘We’ve passed over that.’ He offered no defence,” he added.

The resurfaced interview has sparked debate across social media, with many users pointing to the contrast between Okonkwo’s previous criticism of Atiku and his current role as the former vice president’s spokesperson for the 2027 presidential campaign.

Neither Atiku Abubakar nor Kenneth Okonkwo has publicly reacted to the renewed circulation of the 2023 interview at the time of filing this report.
