BREAKING: ‘South Africa Must Go’ Protests Rock Ghana

Some Ghanaian youths, under the banner of the “South Africa Must Go” campaign, on Friday staged a peaceful protest in Accra, demanding the shutdown of South African companies operating in the country.

The protest followed deadly xenophobic attacks in South Africa, which have triggered concern across the continent and prompted some African countries to evacuate their citizens.

In a viral video, the protesters were heard condemning attacks on Ghanaian residents in South Africa and calling for urgent action.

The demonstrators were seen carrying placards with inscriptions such as “Ghanaian lives matter” while chanting slogans as they converged on the premises of a South African company.

The protest heightened tension in Ghana, with participants insisting that attacks on African migrants in South Africa must stop.

The development comes weeks after Ghana and other African countries, including Nigeria, began evacuating their citizens from South Africa amid rising tensions.

In Nigeria, the first batch of returnees arrived in the country on Thursday and were received by government officials, including the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye.

The protesters maintained that African lives must be protected and called on authorities to respond firmly to the xenophobic attacks.
