BREAKING: Gov Fubara Withdraws From APC Gubernatorial Primaries

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries scheduled for Thursday.

In a personally signed statement titled “My Decision to Withdraw from the Rivers State Gubernatorial Primaries”released on Wednesday night, Fubara said he would support whoever eventually emerges as the party’s candidate.

He explained that the decision followed deep reflection and consultations with his family, friends, and associates, describing it as a difficult but necessary step taken in the interest of Rivers State.

According to him, leadership sometimes requires sacrifice, stressing that personal ambition must give way to the collective good of the people, and that peace, stability, and unity in the state must come first.

Fubara also expressed appreciation to his supporters for their loyalty, prayers, and sacrifices throughout the process, noting that while some may feel disappointed, their support was not in vain.

He added that his earlier silence was intentional and guided by what he described as the higher interest of the state, saying some decisions are best kept away from public discourse for the sake of peace and wisdom.

The governor thanked the APC for the platform provided and also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his encouragement and support.

He urged party members to remain united and committed as the APC continues its political process, insisting that his withdrawal was not due to weakness or fear but a conscious act of sacrifice for the progress of Rivers State.

Fubara further stated that he remains committed to serving the people of Rivers State until the end of his tenure, expressing optimism for a more united and stable future for the state.
