BORNO NORTH APC RECONCILIATION: MONGUNO EMERGES UNOPPOSED FOR SENATE
Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno has emerged as the unopposed candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Borno North Senatorial District, following a successful reconciliation exercise conducted by the Borno North APC Aspirants Reconciliation Committee.
The development came on the second day of the committee’s sitting, convened under the chairmanship of His Excellency, Sen. Maina Ma’aji Lawan, with the overarching goal of sustaining unity, harmony, and mutual understanding among party members and aspirants across the zone ahead of the legislative elections.
Senator Monguno’s emergence without a contest is widely seen as a testament to his acceptance and standing within the party structure in Borno North, as fellow aspirants stepped down in recognition of his incumbency and track record of representation.
In the same session, Rt. Hon. Bukar Talba also emerged unopposed as the APC candidate for the Marte/Monguno/Nganzai Federal Constituency seat, further reflecting the committee’s success in building consensus at the federal level.
On the state legislative front, Hon. Modu Makinta Zulum was adopted as the consensus candidate for the Monguno State Constituency, while Rt. Hon. Sheikh Imam Dr. Mohammed Ali Gajiram clinched the consensus ticket for the Nganzai State Constituency seat in the Borno State House of Assembly.
The committee also received submissions from aspirants vying for the Kaga/Gubio/Magumeri and Abadam/Kukawa/Guzamala/Mobbar Federal Constituencies, as well as several State House of Assembly seats, with their presentations set to inform the committee’s final report.
The exercise has been broadly commended as a positive step toward a rancour-free APC primary process in Borno North.
