“Be Careful, Tr0uble Is On The Way to Your State, You Put Your Hand, You Get Fire” — Wike Warns Governors Over Rivers Politics
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to political figures and governors from other states whom he accused of attempting to interfere in the political affairs of Rivers State.
Speaking at a public gathering, Wike declared that those seeking to destabilize the state would face consequences, insisting that Rivers people would resist any external influence aimed at creating political turmoil.
The former Rivers governor recalled previous warnings he had issued, stating that individuals who underestimated the determination of Rivers residents had already discovered that meddling in the state’s affairs comes with repercussions.
“I challenge anybody. I have said before that anyone from another state trying to destroy Rivers State will have problems. They have not succeeded and they will not succeed,” Wike said.
The FCT minister further cautioned political actors who, according to him, believe that financial resources made available to some states by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could be used to influence events in Rivers State.
According to him, such individuals should reconsider their actions, warning that their own states could eventually face political challenges if they continue what he described as interference in Rivers affairs.
“Those who think they can come here and do anything because they believe so much money Mr. President has made available to some states, be careful. Trouble is on the way to your state,” he declared.
Despite the strong warning, Wike maintained that Rivers people are peaceful but would not tolerate actions capable of undermining the state’s stability and progress.
He also argued that several states across the country are grappling with more severe political crises than those being associated with Rivers State, urging critics to focus on resolving issues within their own domains rather than interfering elsewhere.
Wike concluded by praising Rivers State, describing it as a state blessed by God, and expressed confidence that its development and prosperity would continue despite ongoing political tensions.
