Asu Ekiye clarifies wife’s shock move in ending 28-year union

Nigerian gospel singer Asu Ekiye has cleared the air regarding his divorce, stressing that his estranged wife, Kunemofa Asu, initiated the dissolution of their 28-year marriage.

Ekiye, while speaking via his Instagram page after the divorce announcement was made, said that his wife initiated the split and filed for divorce without a prior quarrel, and that reconciliation efforts failed.

“The decision regarding the dissolution of my marriage was not one I initiated. Having done all I could to seek reconciliation, I eventually came to the difficult decision to accept the reality of the situation,” he said.

He explained that he felt the need to clear the air because he was receiving numerous calls and messages about the news. He also stressed that he bore no bitterness or ill will towards his former wife and had chosen to approach the new phase of his life with dignity and respect.

“I bear no bitterness or ill will toward anyone,” he added.
