Poco Lee’s UK rape case not over — Prosecutors

The United Kingdom’s Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed that the sexual offence case against Nigerian dancer Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, remains active despite widespread reports that he had regained his freedom.

According to The Punch, The CPS said that Poco Lee was still expected to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026.

“This case is still live, and Odinaka is still set to appear for a PTPH at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 15 September 2026,” the prosecution service said.

PTPH stands for Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing. It is a pre-trial proceeding at which a defendant’s plea and arrangements for a possible trial are considered.

However, the CPS did not confirm whether Poco Lee had been released on bail or remained in custody.

Snaresbrook Crown Court had also not publicly clarified his custody status at the time of filing this report.

The clarification followed claims circulating online that the entertainer had been released from prison. Other unconfirmed reports alleged that the complainant had withdrawn the case or that the matter had been settled privately.

None of those claims has been confirmed by the court or UK prosecutors.

Poco Lee faces five alleged sexual offences: attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.

A reporting restriction has been imposed to protect the complainant’s identity under the United Kingdom’s Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992.

The case followed Poco Lee’s visit to the UK in August for the Davido and Friends concert at Crystal Palace Bowl in London.

Poco Lee has not been convicted of any offence, and the allegations against him remain subject to determination by the court.
