Apple Reportedly Developing iPhone Feature That Automatically Locks Phone After Detecting It Has Been Grab From Your Hand

Apple is reportedly working on a new security feature that could automatically lock an iPhone if it detects the device has been snatched from its owner’s hand.

According to reports based on unreleased iOS code, the feature would use the iPhone’s built-in motion sensors, including the accelerometer and gyroscope, to identify sudden movements that may indicate a theft.

The system could also work together with an Apple Watch to determine whether the phone has unexpectedly moved away from its owner. If the device believes it has been stolen, it could instantly lock itself and activate extra security measures to protect personal information.

The rumored feature is expected to build on Apple’s existing Stolen Device Protection system, which already provides additional security when an iPhone is away from trusted locations such as home or work.

Under the current protection system, users must verify their identity using Face ID or Touch ID before accessing sensitive information, including saved passwords, payment details, and Apple account settings. Certain account changes are also delayed for up to an hour, giving users time to secure their accounts if a device is lost or stolen.

Although Apple has not officially announced the anti-snatching feature, many technology analysts believe it is aimed at tackling the growing problem of smartphone theft in major cities.

The feature is also seen as a potential competitor to Theft Detection Lock, a security tool already available on Android devices that automatically locks a phone when suspicious theft-like movements are detected.

If introduced, the new system could provide iPhone users with another layer of protection against thieves and help keep sensitive personal data secure.
