Any illness I can’t treat in Nigeria should kill me as president – Sowore

African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has said he would not seek medical treatment abroad if elected Nigeria’s president, insisting that any illness he cannot treat within the country should be left to fate.

Sowore made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he discussed his plans for a possible 2027 presidency.

“I can tell you for free, any sickness that I can’t treat in Nigeria when I become president should better kill me,” he said.
The AAC candidate also said he would not allow his family to benefit from the presidency, describing his commitment as one focused on serving Nigerians rather than creating personal advantages.

Sowore further reiterated that he would not establish an official Office of the First Lady if elected, arguing that the position is not recognised by Nigeria’s Constitution.

“Becoming the president will not abolish my marriage, but I will not have the office of First Lady,” he said, adding that women would still have a role in his administration.

The comments form part of Sowore’s broader campaign message ahead of the 2027 presidential election, where he has outlined plans focused on reducing government costs and changing existing political structures.
