Adeleke to politicians: ‘Let’s unite and work for Tinubu’

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has again declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adeleke made his position known on Sunday when he met with the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru.

During the meeting, the governor assured Basiru that he would work to ensure that President Tinubu receives strong support from voters across Osun State in the 2027 election.

Adeleke said his promise to support the President was not an empty political statement, stressing that he was serious about delivering the state’s votes to Tinubu.

“I don’t make empty promises. When I said we will deliver Osun State votes to our dear father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I meant it 100 per cent,” Adeleke said.

The governor also called for greater unity among politicians and residents of the state, saying political differences should not prevent them from working together in the interest of Osun.

“Politics must be with integrity. We are all from Osun State. Let’s forget our differences and work for the President,” he said.

Adeleke explained that his decision was influenced by the values he inherited from his father, whom he described as a diplomat and labour union politician.

According to him, his father taught him the importance of keeping promises, standing by one’s word and treating political commitments with seriousness.

The governor’s declaration comes ahead of the 2027 presidential election, as political parties and their supporters begin preparations for the poll.

Adeleke, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has continued to maintain that his support for President Tinubu is based on his personal conviction.

He also appealed to political actors from Osun State to put aside their differences and focus on issues that would promote the development of the state.

The governor maintained that politics should be conducted with honesty and responsibility, urging leaders to keep their promises to the people.

He further stressed the need for Osun people to work together, regardless of their political affiliations, in order to achieve common goals.

Adeleke’s latest statement is expected to generate further discussion within the state’s political circles as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
