ADC: ‘Why Atiku Is Yet To Officially Unveil Amaechi As VP Candidate’

Media aide to the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, Abdulrasheed Shehu, has said his principal’s joint ticket with former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is settled.

Naija News reports that Shehu’s clarification comes following a wave of initial uncertainty and conflicting reports about the ADC’s initial choice for the 2027 presidential election.

However, in a post on 𝕏, Atiku’s aide attributed the delay in confirming Amaechi as the Vice-Presidential candidate to the presidential candidate’s current travel schedule.

He wrote, “Atiku/Ameachi is settled. His Excellency is on a short business trip. Once he returns, Ameachi will be officially unveiled in a few days as the VP candidate. Stop posting fake news.”

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the ADC, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has berated Kenneth Okonkwo for his reaction to the party’s choice of vice-presidential candidate.

Atiku had chosen Amaechi as his running mate for the 2027 election.

However, Okonkwo condemned the development, arguing that such a decision would amount to the continued marginalisation of the South-East, which, according to him, had neither produced a president nor vice president since 1999.

Reacting in a statement on Tuesday, Eze said he was not surprised by the “misguided and unfortunate trash” credited to Okonkwo.

He said that Okonkwo was so “confused and overzealous that he thinks politics is the same as acting a script in the Nollywood industry.
