27-year-old man allegedly beats his mother with baseball bat for not ‘cooking food for him’

A man allegedly beat his mother with a baseball bat after they got into an argument over “her not cooking him any food” in Memphis, Tennessee. 

Deangelo Billingsley, 27, was at home with his mother on September 5, 2026 when the argument began, according to court documents obtained by Law and Crime.

The fight “quickly escalated into Billingsley physically assaulting” his mother, an affidavit of complaint read.

Billingsley reportedly went to his mother’s bedroom and grabbed a baseball bat before charging at her and striking her in the head.

When officers arrived at the home following the assault, they observed a laceration on the mother’s forehead, per authorities. 

The victim told authorities that her son had assaulted her, and she was taken to the hospital with “critical” injuries.

When Billingsley was arrested, he allegedly “admitted to grabbing an aluminum bat from his bedroom and charging at his mother with it.”

“Billingsley said that the altercation started due to Banks not getting him any food,” police wrote. 

Billingsley was charged with criminal attempted second-degree m8rder and domestic assault causing bodily harm.
