2027: Umeh declares Kwankwaso unbeatable in Kano

Senator Victor Umeh has expressed confidence that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, will defeat his opponents in Kano State in the 2027 general election.

Umeh, who represents Anambra Central Senatorial District, made the statement on Friday while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme.

The senator was asked about the NDC’s level of preparation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Umeh said he was certain that Kwankwaso would retain strong support in Kano if the election was conducted in a free, fair and credible manner.

“No matter the noise they make in Kano, nobody can beat Kwankwaso there once the election is credible, transparent, free and fair. I can bet it,” he said.

The senator said he has been working closely with Kwankwaso and other leaders of the party as they prepare for the election.

According to him, the NDC is becoming stronger and is ready to contest the 2027 election with credible candidates.

Umeh also pointed to the recent political activities of the party’s Rivers State governorship candidate, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, as evidence of the growing support for the NDC.

He said the large crowd that welcomed Lulu-Briggs during his first major outing in Port Harcourt showed that many Nigerians were interested in the party.

“Look at what our Rivers State governorship candidate, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, did in Port Harcourt in just his first outing. Port Harcourt was shut down,” he said.

Umeh also referred to the large crowd that followed the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during his recent visit to Port Harcourt.

He said the level of support shown by the people suggested that many voters were motivated by the party and its candidates.

“Those people following them in Port Harcourt last week are Nigerians that will vote. Why were they following our presidential candidate, Peter Obi, like Jesus was crossing, and people were marching around him?

“Something must be motivating and driving the people, the voting population,” Umeh said.
