2027: PDP Leaders Meet Jonathan In Abuja

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by former Minister of Special Duties, Taminu Turaki, on Friday held a meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan as political consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections continue.

The meeting comes months after the Turaki-led faction announced Jonathan, in his absence, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

Jonathan was not present at the event where the faction formally ratified his nomination, and he has yet to publicly indicate whether he will accept the nomination or contest the presidency.

The former president has remained silent on the endorsement despite growing speculation about his possible return to the political scene.

Recall that on May 7, Jonathan said he would consult widely before deciding whether to contest the 2027 presidential election. His comments came after a group of supporters staged a protest at his Abuja office, urging him to declare his intention to run.

Since making that statement, the former president has not addressed the media or provided any update on his political plans.
