2027: ‘I’m not Obidient, not Kwankwasiyya’ – Dickson declares

National leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has rejected being identified with either the Obidient or Kwankwasiyya movements, insisting that his loyalty remains with the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dickson made the declaration while speaking on Arise TV’s Prime Time on Wednesday, amid discussions over the relationship between the NDC and the support groups linked to its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

“I’m not a member of Kwankwasiyya. I’m not a member of Obidient. I am NDC,” Dickson said.

He, however, acknowledged that both movements have the constitutional right to exist independently, noting that their leaders are now the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the NDC.

According to him, the party has moved beyond internal discussions over its candidates and is now focused on defeating its opponents in the 2027 general election.

“There are no internal battles to fight in the NDC. We have decided candidature. The next stage of the battle, strategically, is to win the election,” he said.

Dickson said supporters of Obi and Kwankwaso should concentrate on taking the party’s message to Nigerians rather than engaging in disagreements over identities and affiliations.

He described the relationship between the NDC candidates and the various support groups as a partnership aimed at achieving victory.

“We have a partnership that is committed to winning the next elections. That is the most important thing,” he said.

Dickson also noted that his relationship with Obi and Kwankwaso predates the formation of the NDC, saying they had worked together in different political arrangements over the years.
