2022: I Left APC When I Thought As Pastor Muslim-Muslim Ticket Will Disenfranchise Christians -Bwala

APC chieftain Daniel Bwala has explained the reasons behind his decision to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before eventually returning to the ruling party, saying his earlier concerns were rooted in his convictions as a Christian leader.

Speaking during an interview on The Morayo Afolabi-Brown Show, on Wednesday, 8 July, 2026, Bwala said his opposition to the APC’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 general election was driven by fears that it could negatively affect minority Christians, particularly those from Northern Nigeria. He noted that his perspective was shaped by the realities faced by Christians in his region.

Explaining his decision, Bwala said: “If you believe like I did, why I left APC. I thought that as a pastor, a Christian community leader, the muslim-muslim ticket was going to disenfranchise the interest of minority Christians where I come from and our experiences are different from the Christians in Southern Nigeria.”

The APC chieftain stated that his concerns at the time were based on principle rather than political convenience. He maintained that, as someone who has served as a pastor and community leader, he believed it was important to speak up on issues he felt could affect the interests and representation of Christians in Northern Nigeria.

Bwala added that the experiences of Christians in the North differ significantly from those of their counterparts in Southern Nigeria, making it necessary for leaders from the region to express concerns when they believe certain political decisions could have implications for minority communities…....
