Young man and woman k!lled by IED planted by bandits on Zamfara road
At least two persons, a young man and a woman, have been k!lled by an Improvised Explosive device (IED) planted by bandits along the Gurusu–Gwashi road in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, August 26, 2026 when the IED exploded, k!lling the victims instantly.
Security analyst Bakatsine, who confirmed the incident identified one of the victims as Mujahid Sani.
Graphic photos circulating on social media show the mangled bodies of the victims placed in sacks.
The scene of the blast also captured the devastation wrought by the explosive device.
The victims were laid to rest on Wednesday afternoon.
“This morning, an IED reportedly planted by bandits exploded on the Gurusu–Gwashi road in Bukkuyum LGA, Zamfara State, killing a young man, Mujahid M. Sani, and a woman,” he wrote.
“It is heartbreaking. Two people simply trying to use the road lost their lives in such a horrific way.
“Sadly, this is becoming the reality for many people living in rural communities, where roads are increasingly becoming death traps.
“How many more innocent people have to die before authorities take decisive action to clear these routes of IEDs and make them safe again?
“NB: The first frame shows Mujahid M. Sani before the blast. The second shows the severely dismembered bodies of the victims after the explosion, placed in sacks. The final frame shows the scene of the blast on the Gurusu–Gwashi road.”
