‘You are too boring in the bedroom!’ – Pastor slams Christian couples over intimacy in marriage

Pastor Andrew Yarkwah of Kumasi-based church, The Refiners Avenue, has sparked discussions after advising married couples to pay more attention to intimacy in their relationships.

In a sermon shared online, the pastor said some spouses, especially women, deny their partners intimacy as a form of punishment or control, warning that such actions can harm marriages.

“I am tired of telling single people not to have sex and telling married people to have sex. Some of you women weaponise sex against your husbands because you know he would not cheat on you by virtue of the fear of God,” he said.

Pastor Yarkwah also criticized couples who avoid intimacy because of religious activities such as fasting and extended prayers.

“You cannot deny your spouse sex under the guise that you’re in the spirit. Every day you’re fasting or talking about portals. Tomorrow you’re talking about dimensions and the next level. You are boring, boring in the bedroom. You’re not an angel; you are a human being, and the Bible even permits it. Does the scripture not say that couples should come together quickly after fasting?” he stated.

The pastor argued that emotional and physical connection are important parts of marriage and encouraged couples to learn how to meet each other’s needs.

He added that although some religious leaders avoid discussing intimacy, it is a topic that deserves attention because it affects many marriages.

“Some pastors gloss over this subject, but I will tell you because I’m not ready to be settling avoidable marital squabbles. Buy books and read on this subject. Learn!” he said.

His comments have generated mixed reactions online, with some people agreeing that intimacy is important in marriage, while others debated the role of religion and personal boundaries in relationships.
