Kumawood actor and football academy founder Yaw Dabo had an unexpected reunion at Anglican Park in Atebubu, where he ran into a former Junior High School classmate and expressed interest in scouting him into the Dabo Soccer Academy.

Videos from the encounter show the emotional moment as the two old classmates reconnected in front of a crowd of onlookers, with Dabo reportedly assessing the young man’s footballing ability on the spot before signalling his intention to bring him into the academy’s fold.

The moment fits neatly into Dabo’s long-running reputation as one of Ghana’s most hands-on talent scouts outside the formal football system.

Since founding the Dabo Soccer Academy, he has repeatedly gone the extra mile to connect his players with global opportunities, including flying in an Arsenal scout from the UK, partnering with Spanish scout Xavi Hidalgo for talent-hunting tournaments, and touring top European clubs like Borussia Dortmund and PSG to expand his football networks.
