Xenophob!a: Deny Tyla and her team visas into Nigeria – BBNaija star, Pere, appeals to Nigeria Immigration Service

Reality TV star and actor Pere Egbi has joined a growing segment of Nigerians demanding a boycott of South African Grammy-winning singer Tyla’s upcoming concert scheduled for December in Lagos.

Taking to X, the Big Brother Naija alumnus asked the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to deny visas to Tyla and her management team to prevent them from entering the country.

The push to cancel the concert comes amid heightened tensions and public outrage over recent xenophobic attacks and reported killings targeting Nigerian nationals residing in South Africa. Many online commentators and public figures insist that allowing a high-profile South African artist to host a major event in Nigeria would be insensitive, advocating instead for a firm retaliatory stance.

Pere also disagreed with activist Omoyele Sowore who opposed the boycott, arguing that the recurring xenophobic violence faced by Nigerians abroad stems primarily from the systemic governance failures of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
