Wynonna Judd Set To Become Grandma For The 2nd Time Amid Daughter’s ‘No Contact’ Jail Stint

In an interesting turn of events, Wynonna Judd’s daughter, Grace Kelley, is now expecting a child amid her prison sentence.

The country music icon is now facing complex family dynamics as details emerge regarding her daughter’s ongoing legal sentence and second pregnancy behind bars.

Kelley has had a long history of unfortunate run-ins with the law, with the latest being a prison sentence as a result of a felony charge. 

Court filings reveal that Wynonna’s 30-year-old daughter, Kelley, has been denied a request for temporary release from jail to give birth to her second child. 

Kelley is currently serving a 15-month sentence at the Rockingham County Jail in Harrisonburg, Virginia, following a guilty plea to a felony charge of driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Us Weekly confirmed that her legal team submitted a motion requesting a temporary furlough for her expected August 16 delivery date, but a judge denied the petition on July 16. 

The court documents also highlighted a rift within the family, noting that Kelley has “no contact with her biological family in Tennessee” and receives no support from them, explicitly identifying her mother, Wynonna.

Meanwhile, Judd has been raising Kelley’s first daughter, Kaliyah Grace, amid her daughter’s repeated legal troubles. 

Notably, Kelley is scheduled for release on November 16, after which she will begin five years of probation.

Before the latest court developments surrounding her current sentence and pregnancy, Kelley made severe public allegations concerning her childhood upbringing and her relationship with her mother.

According to The Blast, Kelley publicly detailed traumatic sexual abuse she allegedly endured at age 10 at the hands of her former stepfather, D.R. Roach. 

She alleged that rather than notifying law enforcement, her mother initially took the family to counseling, where the abuse was subsequently reported to police. However, she accused the country star of using her financial influence to suppress the situation. 

Roach was arrested in 2007 and later pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated sexual battery, and Kelley claimed that Wynonna only filed for divorce once the arrest became public.

While Kelley’s legal troubles have led to repeated incarcerations, she previously described a pivotal October 2024 arrest as the catalyst for her personal turn toward faith and sobriety.

According to The Blast, the incident occurred in Albemarle County after Kelley took shelter inside a trailer attached to a van belonging to the Ground Zero Church of the Nazarene.

After consuming drugs, she reportedly panicked and took the vehicle in an attempt to escape, resulting in her arrest and subsequent drug, theft, and driving charges.

Reflecting on the aftermath, Kelley shared that the unexpected compassion of the church’s pastor, Kent Hart, and his wife helped her find stability and faith in Charlottesville.

In addition to navigating her daughter’s legal battles, Wynonna continues to process the profound personal tragedy of her mother, Naomi Judd’s passing.

Compounding the grief is the emotional toll of the final message Naomi reportedly left behind. An insider recently shared that the lingering weight of her mother’s suicide note remains difficult to shake.

“It will never leave her. And thank God for the tour. It may be difficult at times, but performing is what Wynonna loves to do,” the insider said, per The Blast.

Naomi died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at her home in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee. Reports later revealed she left a handwritten note explicitly stating that Wynonna was mentally unstable and should not be allowed at her burial.

The Blast reported that the song explores the deep emotional impact of discovering the truth about her parentage when she learned that the man who raised her, Michael Ciminella, was not her biological father.

Her biological father, Charles Jordan, passed away in 2000 before the singer had an opportunity to meet him in person. The track was inspired by the discovery that Jordan had kept press clippings tracking her music career before his death.
