Woman Says Jared Leto Told Her ‘Age Is Just A Number’ As Sexual Misconduct Claims Pile Up Against Actor
Fresh accusations against Jared Leto are reigniting years of controversy surrounding the actor and musician, with a new BBC documentary bringing together multiple women who claim they experienced inappropriate encounters with him while they were teenagers.
Among the allegations is one woman’s claim that the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman dismissed concerns about California’s age of consent by telling her that age was just a number.
The BBC documentary “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret” centers on the accounts of ten women, with nine speaking publicly about their experiences for the first time.
According to the broadcaster, four women accused Leto of criminal sexual conduct tied to incidents they alleged occurred between 2002 and 2016, when the actor was in his 30s and 40s.
One woman claimed she was sexually assaulted inside a motel bathroom at age 17. Another claimed Leto threatened her with sexual assault after she unexpectedly found herself alone with him in a hotel room when she was 19.
A third woman alleged she had sex with the actor in California when she was 17, which she said would amount to statutory rape because she was below the state’s age of consent.
She claimed that after raising concerns about her age, Leto dismissed them by allegedly responding, “Age is just a number.”
According to the fourth woman, Leto allegedly groomed her through repeated sexually explicit phone calls when she was 16.
She claimed the “Suicide Squad” actor suggested they had sex before she turned 18 and later sent her a non-disclosure agreement that she revealed she refused to sign.
Additional Women Describe Alleged Encounters With Leto
5The documentary also included accounts from several other women who described interactions with Jared Leto when they were much younger.
One woman alleged she was just 14 when the musician made a sexual remark about her chest during an autograph session before asking a security guard to escort her backstage at a music festival.
According to her, her mother confronted him about the comment, but he allegedly repeated it. Four other women also alleged they received unusual and, at times, explicitly sexual phone calls from Leto while they were young.
According to the BBC, it corroborated portions of several women’s accounts through friends and family members they had confided in at the time.
The outlet also said it reviewed photographs and messages that supported aspects of some of the allegations.
Past Allegations Against Jared Leto Resurface
5The documentary arrives after years of online allegations involving Leto. According to reports, there have been more than 120 accusations posted over the years relating to the 54-year-old’s alleged behavior toward women.
Public attention intensified last year after Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz alleged on social media that Leto assaulted her when she was 17. Her allegations prompted several other women to share similar stories.
The renewed scrutiny followed a story Air Mail published in June 2025 that featured nine women accusing Leto of sexual impropriety, with several alleging they were underage during their interactions with him.
The Air Mail exposé also referenced a viral 2018 tweet in which actor Dylan Sprouse joked, “Yo Jared Leto, now that you’ve slid into the DMs of every female model aged 18-25, what would you say your success rate is?”
Leto Previously Denied Similar Allegations
5The women featured in “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret” said their alleged encounters with Jared Leto took place over nearly 15 years, spanning from 2002 to 2016.
Looking back on why she chose to speak publicly now, one woman reflected, “This was 25 years ago… he has gotten away with it.”
The BBC said it found supporting evidence for parts of several accounts through interviews with friends and relatives, as well as photographs and messages reviewed during its investigation.
Although the documentary introduces new allegations alongside previously reported claims, Leto has denied similar accusations in the past.
Following the publication of the Air Mail investigation last year, his representatives rejected the allegations, denying that the “Dallas Buyers Club” star had engaged in sexual misconduct or maintained inappropriate relationships with women.
Jared Leto Was Previously Accused Of Assaulting Teen At 2012 Event
5Among the claims in the Air Mail publication was that of Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz’s allegation that she was assaulted by the actor backstage at a 2012 event when she was 17.
As The Blast reported, Teilz resurfaced a Facebook post from that year that read, “Youre not really in L.A. until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you backstage… In a kilt.. And a snow hat.”
She later expanded on the allegation on Instagram Stories, writing, “I was assaulted and traumatized by this creep when I was 17. He knew my age and didn’t care. What he did was predatory, terrifying and unacceptable.”
Her posts prompted several other women to come forward with similar claims, eventually leading to an investigation that featured multiple women accusing Leto of sexual impropriety.
Leto’s representative denied Teilz’s allegation, telling the outlet that “Ms. Teilz’s allegations are demonstrably false.”
