Woman Mixes Her Dog’s Ashes Into Eyeliner Tattoo to Keep Him Close Forever

A woman from the UK has touched hearts online after revealing the unusual way she chose to remember her beloved dog, Patch, after his death.

Claire Hobson, a permanent makeup artist, spent 20 years with Patch and struggled to let him go when he passed away. As she prepared to move to Dubai, she wanted a way to keep him close without carrying his ashes around in a suitcase.

“I was about to go to Dubai to move there. I was living between countries and I thought, ‘I don’t want to put his ashes in a suitcase,’” Claire said on ITV’s This Morning program. “I thought, ‘Oh, I’m getting my eyeliner tattooed and I’m sure people have their loved ones tattooed into body tattoos, so why not just have it in my eyeliner?’”

Claire shared her idea with a close makeup artist, who agreed to help. The artist had also recently lost a pet, making the idea more meaningful. Together, they mixed a small amount of Patch’s ashes into the eyeliner ink before applying the semi-permanent tattoo.

“Dogs, they’re loyal, they’re consistent, they show up every single day and they kiss you when you come home from work and, like, it’s the purest form of love,” Hobson said. “There’s no malice. There’s no manipulation. They’re happy to see you every single day for 20 years.”

The eyeliner tattoo is not permanent, but it can last for several years. Claire says she still has more of Patch’s ashes and can use them again when she needs a touch-up.

“He’s going to be there a long time,” the makeup artist said.
