Woman Loses Memories of Her Husband, Then Falls in Love With Him Again

A Canadian couple’s story has returned to public attention after it resurfaced on Reddit.

Laura and Brayden Faganello married in British Columbia in July 2016.

Nine months later, Laura suffered a serious head injury while helping to prepare a business event.

The accident happened on April 27, 2017.

Strong winds reportedly caused a large tent support pole to fall and strike her head.

“I still remember the noise it made when it hit my head,” Laura said. “I still remember how it felt. I still have nightmares of that. After that, everyone was fanning my eyes and telling me not to cry. That’s when the fog started setting in.”

Laura began losing many of her long-term memories.

She forgot meeting Brayden, falling in love with him and marrying him. She believed she was still 17 and attending high school.

When she later woke up beside Brayden, she did not recognise him.

She also became confused after seeing their wedding album and clothes inside the same home.

“In my brain, I was 17 years old and in high school. I had exams to study for. I couldn’t fathom the fact that I was married and living in Canada,” she said.

Doctors diagnosed Laura with a serious concussion. Her recovery affected her ability to read, write, speak clearly and complete everyday tasks.

Brayden moved into another room to give her space. He supported her without forcing her to remember their relationship.

Laura later removed her wedding rings. She told Brayden that she could not continue with a marriage she did not remember choosing.

Instead of ending the relationship, they agreed to start dating again.

Their first new date involved playing mini-golf. They also went for meals, took long walks and spent time learning about each other.

Laura gradually developed new feelings for Brayden.

“Brayden became my best friend, and then my crush, and then my love. I haven’t miraculously gotten my memory and all my old feelings for him back, but I have new feelings and new memories,” she said.

Brayden proposed again in August 2019. Laura accepted.

Later accounts say the couple held a second wedding ceremony in July 2020.

Their story recently resurfaced on Reddit and attracted thousands of reactions.

Some users praised Brayden’s patience. Others said the couple’s experience showed that love can continue even when shared memories disappear.

One commenter wrote, “The patience to have the same courtship again is astounding.”
