Why I dumped ADC — Lawal Daura

Former Katsina State governorship aspirant, Lawal Musa Daura, has revealed why he quit the African Democratic Congress, ADC, saying injustice and unstable leadership within the party pushed him out.

Daura, a former Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, also dismissed reports that he left the ADC because he failed to secure the party’s governorship ticket.

According to him, he had exited the party several months ago but chose not to immediately announce his next political move.

He said the period of silence was used to carefully assess his options and avoid making another political mistake.

Daura explained that his entry into politics was driven by a desire to contribute to tackling insecurity, poor leadership and Nigeria’s economic challenges rather than personal ambition.

“I joined politics not to achieve personal ambition, but because of my concern for the country and its people. I want to change people’s belief that lies, dishonesty and deception are part of politics,” he said.

The former DSS boss has now joined the Allied People’s Movement, APM, which he described as a party capable of winning elections and currently free from internal crisis.

He urged Nigerians to support the APM ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Daura, however, declined to disclose the political position he intends to contest when asked.

He maintained that his commitment to national development was not dependent on holding public office.

According to him, he entered politics to contribute to building a better Nigeria and has no intention of withdrawing from the political space.
