What Is TARA? DRDO Tests India’s First Indigenous Glide Weapon System

TARA — short for Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation — is essentially a modular glide weapon kit. In practical terms, it is designed to attach to existing unguided air-dropped warheads and convert them into precision-capable glide weapons. Once released from an aircraft, the system uses aerodynamic lift and guidance mechanisms to travel significantly farther than a conventional free-fall bomb while improving strike accuracy.
