We Will Shut Down Any Mosque Found To Be Delivering Sermons That Incite The Public -Bago

According to a report by Daily Post Thursday, July 23, 2026, Umaru Mohammed Bago, Niger State Governor, has urged members of the Fulani community in the state to work closely with security agencies in efforts to tackle the rising cases of insecurity.

He made the appeal while addressing members of the community in Minna on July 18, where he stressed the need for cooperation in confronting criminal activities affecting the state.

The governor stated that the activities of armed criminals operating in some areas were creating negative impressions about the Fulani community.

He noted that the actions of individuals involved in criminal acts were affecting the image and reputation of the wider community, which he said should not be associated with such activities.

Bago appealed to members of the Fulani community to support government and security efforts by providing useful information that could assist in addressing security challenges.

He emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in dealing with threats posed by armed groups and other criminal elements across Niger State.

During the meeting in Minna, the governor also addressed concerns surrounding religious activities and the role of places of worship in maintaining peace and stability.

He warned that the state government would not tolerate any religious platform being used to promote messages capable of causing tension or encouraging unrest among residents.

The Niger State Government, according to Bago, would take decisive measures against any mosque or place of worship found to be engaging in sermons considered capable of inciting members of the public.

He maintained that religious institutions should contribute to peace-building efforts rather than become channels for messages that could threaten security.

The governor’s warning came as part of his address to the Fulani community, where he called for greater understanding and collaboration between residents, traditional institutions, religious leaders, and security agencies in the fight against insecurity.

He reiterated that the government would continue to monitor activities that could undermine peace within the state.
