We Discovered That Wike’s Aides, Relatives, Were Appointed Returning & Presiding Officers–Peterside

Dakuku Peterside, a former candidate for governor of Rivers State, has claimed that a lack of impartiality in the appointment of electoral officials associated with Nyesom Wike tainted the 2015 governorship election.…....

During an interview with Rufai Oseni on Nevon HQ, Peterside claimed that his team had found evidence that certain Rivers State INEC officials were reportedly allied with the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He claims that, because the former president is of the Ijaw ethnic group, his camp had previously met with INEC officials at the state level, who supposedly expressed support for Jonathan’s government.

Peterside went on to say that his group had found evidence prior to the governorship election that some of the people chosen to serve as returning officers, presiding officers, and supervisors were supposedly Wike’s relatives, friends, or aides.

He added that his group had challenged the appointments and presented proof that the officials in question were too close to the People’s Democratic Party candidate to operate impartially.

The electoral authority allegedly did not replace the personnel involved, according to Peterside, despite the objections and proof that were submitted.

He insisted that all his group wanted was an impartial election with equal treatment for all parties.

The individual in question was found to have been assigned to positions of authority by Wike himself, his family, and others associated with him, including those of supervisor, presiding officer, and returning officer. We lodged a formal protest and presented sufficient proof prior to the governorship election.
