We Can Challenge For Afcon And World Cup In The Next 5 Years Under Our Current Coach — Prez Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has expressed optimism about the future of Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, saying the team has the potential to compete for major international honours if proper structures and continuity are maintained.

Speaking about the team’s prospects, President Mahama said retaining the current squad and encouraging coach Carlos Queiroz to continue with the project could help build a stronger side capable of challenging for titles at future Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments and the FIFA World Cup.

“I’m sure that if we keep this team and persuade Carlos Queiroz to continue with the team, by the time for the next AFCON or World Cup, we will have a team that can claim the championship,” he stated.

The President also highlighted plans to improve Ghana’s sporting infrastructure, revealing intentions to transform the Ho Sports Stadium into an ultramodern multipurpose sports facility.

According to him, the upgrade forms part of broader preparations to position Ghana to host future editions of the Africa Cup of Nations while creating world-class facilities for athletes and sports development.

The comments have generated discussions among football fans, with many hopeful that consistent investment, proper planning, and technical stability can help the Black Stars return to the top of African football.
