Video Shows Residents Looting Soft Drinks After Truck Accident in Asaba

A video circulating on social media has sparked widespread reactions after capturing the moment several residents allegedly carted away cartons of soft drinks from the scene of a road accident in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The incident reportedly occurred along the Sawmill Road area of the city when a truck transporting large quantities of bottled and canned beverages was involved in a collision with a Lexus sport utility vehicle.

According to eyewitness accounts, the impact of the crash caused the truck to lose balance and overturn onto its side, spilling its cargo across the road.

Moments after the accident, residents and passersby reportedly converged on the scene. Rather than assisting in recovery efforts, many individuals were seen carrying away packs of drinks scattered on the road.

Videos from the scene showed people loading cartons of beverages onto their shoulders, motorcycles, and other means of transportation as they left the area with the products.

Some witnesses claimed that the situation escalated when additional residents arrived after hearing about the accident. Reports indicated that a number of individuals even brought tricycles to the location to transport larger quantities of the drinks.
