VIDEO: Enugu Air flight crash lands at Benin Airport (video)

An aircraft operated by Enugu Air was involved in an aviation incident at Benin Airport in Edo State on Thursday afternoon, July 23, after reportedly making an emergency landing.

Videos circulating on social media showed passengers and crew members safely evacuating the aircraft and walking through muddy ground and grassy areas after disembarking.

The footage was first shared on X by a user identified as @Oyindamola, who claimed the aircraft had crash-landed at the airport.

Despite the dramatic scenes, there were no immediate reports of injuries, with all passengers and crew members appearing to have exited the aircraft safely.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been officially disclosed, and aviation authorities are expected to investigate the cause.

Reacting to the development, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, expressed relief that there were no reported casualties while calling for a thorough investigation into the incident.

“My heart goes out to everyone involved in the incident involving the @EnuguAirlines aircraft at Benin Airport. I hope no one was injured and that all passengers and crew are safe,” Sowore wrote.

He also urged the relevant authorities to prioritize aviation safety and strict regulatory compliance.

“The authorities must treat aviation safety and regulatory compliance with the utmost seriousness. There is no room for negligence when lives are at stake,” he added.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), nor Enugu Air had issued an official statement detailing the cause of the incident.

An investigation is expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the emergency landing and whether any technical or operational issues contributed to the occurrence.
