“Our fans, we have come again this time around for one of our elders in the industry, Baba Opebe. He’s not feeling healthy. His health is diminishing,”
Veteran Nollywood actor Opebe has sparked concern among colleagues and fans after filmmaker Kunle Afod appealed for urgent support over his deteriorating health condition.
Afod made the appeal on Friday after visiting the actor at his residence in Ibadan, sharing a video in which he called on Nigerians and industry stakeholders to come to Opebe’s aid.
According to Afod, the actor’s health has continued to decline, leaving him in need of medical assistance and support.
“Our fans, we have come again this time around for one of our elders in the industry, Baba Opebe. He’s not feeling healthy. His health is diminishing,” Afod said.
The filmmaker urged individuals and organisations with the capacity to assist the actor to come forward, saying the veteran entertainer needed help at this critical period.
Speaking about his condition, Opebe revealed that he has been battling the health challenge since last year despite undergoing several medical tests.
The actor said doctors have been unable to identify the exact illness affecting him, although he was informed that he had low blood levels and was given four pints of blood.
“I have done a series of tests but nothing was found. They only told me that I’m short of blood and I was given four pints of blood,” Opebe said.
He added that he had visited different hospitals in search of answers but his condition had continued to worsen.
Opebe, known for his contributions to Yoruba Nollywood, has been absent from movie screens due to his health struggles.
Kunle Afod’s appeal has since drawn attention from fans and members of the entertainment industry, with many calling for support for the veteran actor.
