Usain Bolt Proposes To Kasi Bennett With 5-Carat Diamond Ring On His 40th Birthday

Usain Bolt just got engaged to his longtime girlfriend!

The eight-time Olympic gold medalist popped the big question to Kasi Bennett after over a decade of dating as they celebrated his 40th birthday. Bennett, 36, made all the arrangements for the celebration but the Jamaican retired sprinter has something else in mind.

Bolt popped the big question to Bennett with a 5-carat diamond ring featuring an oval cut, which the Jamaican model showed off in several pictures posted on Instagram.

For the special occasion, which was held at the One Belmont in Kingston, Jamaica, per local news outlet Jamaica Observer, Bennett looked stunning in a gold form-fitting gown with silver sequin detailing. As for Bolt, he sported a gray checkered suit with light blue loafers.

“A million moments led us here. Yes, always,” Bennett captioned the photos.

According to the couple’s close friend Nicolette Williams, as reported by E! News, there were many “sleepless night” involved in Bolt’s birthday celebration. While the celebration was for the Olympian, it was Bennett, who shares kids Olympia, 6, and 5-year-old twins Thunder and Saint with Bolt, who got her “surprise of a lifetime.”

Williams shared the adorable story on Instagram, which Bennett also posted on her Instagram Story: “So many sleepless nights planning UB’s 40th with Kasi…little did she know we were secretly planning the surprise of a lifetime. You both deserve all the happiness in the world. UB’s heart is literally gold, and Kasi the absolutely sweetest!”

Before the proposal, Bennett posted a sweet birthday tribute to her longtime love on Instagram for his 40th birthday.

“Happy 40th birthday to my person,” she wrote. “My love, my home, my forever. You are an incredible dad and truly the centre of our little world. Your legacy is extraordinary, but the man behind it will always be what makes me proudest. So grateful to do this fun life we’ve created with you. I love you endlessly baby.”

Apart from the message, Bennett added pictures of Bolt, along with their couple pics and videos, with one showing a glimpse of their kids.

In July, Bolt featured Bennett on his Instagram through a sweet birthday greeting: “Happy birthday to the most wonderful woman in the world great partner and even better mother. I know that the future only holds happiness and prosperity for you. You are a god bless woman and I am happy to be in your life happy birthday again.”

For Father’s Day, Bennett described Bolt as a “man who always puts family first” in another sweet tribute.

“Happy Father’s Day to the man who always puts family first. Your love, sacrifices, and commitment to us never go unnoticed, and we are grateful every day for the father and role model you are,” she wrote. “We love you endlessly and are so lucky to call you ours. Pops would be beyond proud of the man and father you continue to be.”

Bolt and Bennett began dating in 2013, but they kept their relationship private for as long as possible.

“She’s happy, I’m happy!” Bolt said in a 2016 interview with PEOPLE, revealing that he wanted a relationship like his parents, Wellesley and Jennifer Bolt, who spent 10 years together before tying the knot. “I want to have what my parents have. I want to take my time to make sure everything is perfect.”

In regards to having kids, Bolt shared he wanted to have three — and he did!

“I’ve always said I want three kids,” Bolt shared. “The other day I hung out with my buddy who has three kids and it was crazy. I was like ‘Hmmmm do I really want 3 kids?’ But yes, yes I do. I’m sure of it.”
