UNIOSUN matriculates 493 part-time students into degree programmes

The Osun State University (UNIOSUN), on Friday, matriculated 493 part-time students into various degree programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of UNIOSUN, Prof. Clement Adebooye, described the students’ admission as a reward for their determination and unwavering desire for self-improvement.

Adebooye, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Research, Innovation and Partnerships, Prof. Laurence Kehinde, said the university remained committed to providing quality education driven by innovation, research and community service.

He said that the Centre for Part-Time and Advanced Studies (CPAS) had become an integral part of the university’s success story by providing flexible learning opportunities without compromising the quality and standard of a UNIOSUN degree.

According to him, the university has introduced digital platforms that enable part-time students to access their individual portals to monitor academic progress and carry out academic activities online.

“The institution had commenced the development of a purpose-built Centre for Advanced Studies to provide the infrastructure required for effective teaching and learning.

” We urged students to attend lectures regularly, participate actively in academic activities, complete their assignments diligently and make effective use of the university’s digital resources and support systems,” he said.

He advised them to cultivate continuous learning, critical thinking and intellectual curiosity that comes with knowledge and values that would shape their future.

The Vice-Chancellor warned students against cultism, examination malpractice, cybercrime, drug abuse, sexual harassment, violence, hooliganism, certificate fraud and other acts capable of undermining the integrity of the institution.

“Our regulations are clear, and sanctions for violations are strictly enforced. I therefore urge you to uphold the values of honesty, discipline, responsibility and respect for constituted authority throughout your stay in the university.

” The matriculation oath is a solemn pledge to obey the university’s laws, pursue knowledge with integrity and conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of the institution.” he said.

Adebooye , appreciated parents, guardians, spouses, employers and other well-wishers for their support and assured them that the university would continue to provide an environment that promotes academic excellence, moral discipline and holistic development.

Earlier, the Director of the Centre for Part-Time and Advanced Studies, Prof. Abosede Akanbi, administered the matriculation oath to the students.

Akanbi urged them to obey the university authorities and comply with all regulations guiding the institution.

She warned them against violence, cultism and other acts capable of destroying university or community property, advising them to report any cult-related activities to the appropriate university authorities.

Akande, however, warned that any student found guilty of violating the matriculation oath or the university’s regulations would face appropriate sanctions, including expulsion.

The event was rounded off with an orientation session for the new intakes.
