Two teachers at same grade school convicted of s3x crimes involving students

Two former fifth-grade teachers who worked at the same Wisconsin elementary school have been convicted of s3x crimes involving minors.

Former River Crest Elementary School teacher Abigail Faust pleaded guilty to child enticement and second-degree s3xual assault of a child under 16.

Faust, 25, admitted to s3xually assaulting two 15-year-old boys, including one whose family had employed her as a nanny. Her former colleague and friend, Madison Bergmann, 26, had previously pleaded guilty to child enticement and s3xual misconduct involving an 11-year-old student. Bergmann was sentenced to six years in prison.

Prosecutors said Faust and Bergmann exchanged text messages about their respective relationships with the boys. Faust had separately been accused of inappropriate conduct involving one of her own fifth-grade students, including allegedly keeping the child after class and kissing him on the cheek.

Charges related to those allegations were dismissed as part of Faust’s plea agreement and therefore did not result in convictions. Faust was also accused of knowing that Bergmann was “making out” with the 11-year-old student and failing to report it.

During her court appearance, Faust acknowledged the seriousness of her conduct, saying what she had done could not simply be characterised as a mistake or an instance of poor judgment. She also told the court that she was undergoing therapy in an effort to understand the choices she had made. Faust is scheduled to be sentenced in December.
