The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two police constable applicants over alleged certificate forgery during a screening exercise at the Police Training School Bauchi.
The command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.
According to him, the screening exercise was supervised by A. Y. Dickson, who led the recruitment team at the training school.
Habib said a total of 403 applicants were screened during the exercise. The figure included 354 candidates applying for general duty roles and 49 specialists.
During the screening, two applicants were arrested after they were discovered to be in possession of forged results from the National Examinations Council.
The police spokesperson explained that both suspects bore the same name, Yusuf Usman, and had reportedly been moving together throughout the screening process before their documents were identified as fake.
“The team screened 354 General Duty and 49 Specialists, making a total of 403 candidates.
“Two candidates were arrested with forged NECO results, both named Yusuf Usman, and they were moving together throughout the process,” he said.
Habib added that the team leader directed that the suspects be handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of ‘E’ Division for further investigation.
He also cautioned applicants against engaging in fraudulent activities during recruitment exercises.
The screening exercise forms part of the ongoing nationwide recruitment of 50,000 police constables by the Nigeria Police Force, which began earlier in the week.
