Two Dead, Ten Injured in Horror Accident on Cape Coast, Takoradi Highway

Two people have died and ten others were injured in a road accident at Dompoase on the Cape Coast, Takoradi Highway on Friday evening.

The Komenda Fire Station rescue team responded to an emergency call at about 6:55 p.m. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found one victim trapped inside a Toyota Hiace commercial vehicle with registration number AS 6145-24.

The rescue team managed to free the trapped victim from the wreckage.

Early reports indicate that the Toyota Hiace was carrying ten passengers, all of whom were injured in the crash.

Three of the victims suffered serious injuries. They, together with the other injured passengers, were taken to Elmina Polyclinic for treatment.

Personnel from the National Ambulance Service later confirmed that two of the injured victims had died.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened after an unidentified vehicle travelling from Takoradi towards Cape Coast allegedly tried to overtake another vehicle.

The driver of the Toyota Hiace, which was travelling from Cape Coast towards Takoradi, reportedly swerved to avoid a head-on collision.

In the process, the vehicle crashed into a broken-down truck with registration number GN 2491-14 that had been parked along the roadside.

Authorities are expected to carry out further investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash.
