Twitter troll bags 2 years imprisonment for spreading false claims about Adekunle Gold’s daughter

A social media user identified as Mr Samuel Adeboye Adeyeye, popularly known on X as Swanky_concept, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment after pleading guilty to spreading false information online about the daughter of Nigerian singers Adekunle Gold and Simi.

Samuel had sparked outrage after sharing a post falsely insinuating that the couple’s daughter, Deja, was dead.

“My sincere condolences to the Adekunle family. Rip to Deja,” he wrote on X.

The misleading post quickly generated reactions online before authorities reportedly took action against him.

He was subsequently arraigned and later sentenced on May 15 after pleading guilty to spreading misinformation with malicious intent.
