Turkey: Why Samsunspor beat Galatasaray 4-1 – Osimhen
Galatasaray forward, Victor Osimhen has explained why his team were beaten 4-1 by Samsunspor on Saturday, saying they did not play well.
The Nigerian international urged his teammates to stay focused on their championship aspiration.
The Nigerian striker acknowledged that the team did not meet expectations at the Canik 19 May Stadium, but he emphasized that the defeat would not hinder their pursuit of the title.
Osimhen, who finalized his transfer from Napoli last summer, had a mixed performance.
He initially made a positive contribution by assisting Yunus Akgün for the first goal in the ninth minute, but the match subsequently turned unfavorable for the visitors.
A poorly executed back pass from the forward led to the dismissal of goalkeeper Günay Güvenç in the second half, exacerbating Galatasaray’s difficulties.
In his post-match comments, Osimhen encouraged his teammates to avoid fixating on the disappointing outcome, highlighting the necessity of maintaining concentration ahead of their upcoming game.
“Let’s not dwell on this match. We must keep pushing forward,” Victor stated via Fotomac.
“We need to secure a victory at home and claim the championship. Nothing has changed. The team will give its all. We’ll concentrate on the next match.
“We were aware that winning the title here would not be straightforward. Our performance was lacking as well. We will win our next home game and officially secure the championship. We apologize to the fans. We will move forward.”
Despite this setback, Osimhen has had a remarkable season, tallying 20 goals and eight assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.
