Trump's Secret Dentist Visit Sparks Fresh Health Fears
US President Donald Trump made an unscheduled visit to a dentist in Florida on Saturday morning, prompting renewed questions about his health. The visit, which did not appear on his public schedule, took place at a time when the President has faced increasing scrutiny over his medical condition.
Jonathan Reiner, a physician and commentator, noted that the White House is equipped to handle routine dental care. “The White House has had a dental operatory since the Hoover Admin. Routine dental exams can be done in the WH,” he wrote on X in response to reports of the visit. He added: “There’s been such lack of candor about the health of the President that even a visit to the dentist raises questions.”
The White House medical unit has long maintained dental facilities capable of carrying out procedures on site. Reiner also noted that such facilities are equipped for more complex treatment if required.
According to reports, the President did not undergo general anaesthesia during the appointment. Trump, 79, has spoken frequently about his own health in recent days. In a post on Truth Social, he said candidates for President should “be forced to take a Cognitive Examination prior to entering the Race”.
“I took the Exam three times during my (‘THREE!’) Terms as President, and ACED IT ALL THREE TIMES,” he wrote, despite having served one full term.
His most recent annual physical took place on 11 April 2025, when he was declared to be in “excellent health”. He has yet to undergo a new examination this year.
Dr Reiner, who previously treated former Vice-President Dick Cheney, has also called for greater transparency around Presidential health. “It’s time for Congress to enact a law requiring the White House physician to periodically and officially certify the health of every President, and their fitness to hold office,” he said.
The visit came after the President delivered a lengthy speech in Florida on Friday, during which he returned repeatedly to the subject of his cognitive abilities.
“You know, I’ve had different faces, they’ve said, ‘He’s a mad genius.’ … Then they said, ‘He’s really not a smart person at all.’ I really hated that,” he said. He also described taking a cognitive test at Walter Reed, calling it “a tough test”, and added: “But there aren’t a lot of people that get it right. I got it right.”
On Saturday morning, the President’s motorcade departed his Mar-a-Lago residence before 08:00 local time and returned around 10:00. He later went on to play golf.
The President’s last publicly scheduled dental appointment was also in Florida, on 10 January.
