Troops of the 17 Brigade, Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, working alongside hybrid forces, have foiled a planned t3rrorist att@ck targeting commuters along the Kakumi–Guga Road in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, k!lling eight suspected t3rrorists in the process.

The development was disclosed in a report by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert covering the Lake Chad region.

According to the report, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence indicating that armed t3rrorists loyal to a notorious kingpin identified as Idi Abasu Aiki were plotting to att@ck motorists and other road users along the route.

Makama said the suspected t3rrorists were spotted advancing toward the target area on five motorcycles, prompting troops and hybrid forces to swiftly mobilise and set up an ambush along their anticipated path.

“The troops engaged the t3rrorists in a fierce gun battle, during which eight of the assailants were neutralised,” he stated.

The report further noted that troops subsequently carried out an exploitation of the area, recovering two AK-47 rifles and five motorcycles allegedly used by the suspected t3rrorists during the operation.

Makama added that troops have maintained aggressive patrols and surveillance across the area to guard against any retaliatory att@cks on nearby communities and commuters.

As Operation FANSAN YAMMA continues its efforts to restrict the movement of t3rrorist groups across Katsina State and the wider North-West region.
