Troops foil Boko Haram attacks, intercepts insurgent supplies in North East

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled multiple terrorist attacks and seized large consignments of logistics intended for insurgents during operations across the North East between March 28 and 30, 2026.

Sani Uba, the media officer of Joint Task Force (North East) disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

He noted that the operations targeted terrorist enclaves and supply networks across Borno state and adjoining areas.

The statement said troops deployed in Damboa thwarted a planned attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters after detecting their movement through surveillance.

“In a major operational breakthrough, troops deployed at Damboa thwarted a planned Boko Haram/ISWAP attack after detecting terrorists’ movement through surveillance systems. The troops engaged the insurgents, forcing them to withdraw in disarray,” it stated.

It added that troops also repelled attempted attacks on farmers and communities in Gwoza and Askira Uba Local Government Areas, forcing the insurgents to retreat towards the Mandara Mountains.

The military said troops uncovered and detonated an improvised explosive device planted along the Goniri–Ngamdu axis.

“Recovered materials, including rail tracks used to canalise vehicles into a killing zone, highlight ongoing terrorist efforts to disrupt movement along critical routes,” the statement noted.

In collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, the army arrested multiple logistics suppliers and collaborators. Among those detained was Mohammed Adamu, a 26-year-old alleged long-term supplier of motorcycle parts to terrorists.

Thirteen other suspects were arrested in Gubio, while two admitted prolonged involvement in logistics support for insurgents.

Additional arrests included a suspected member of the JAS/ISWAP faction, Abubakar Ali alias “Saina,” and a suspected kidnapper in Damboa. Clearance operations also recovered 450 wraps of suspected marijuana.

The military high command commended the troops for their vigilance and professionalism, urging sustained efforts to deny terrorists freedom of action across the theatre of operations.
