Touched By An Angel: Reese Not Suspended After WNBA Rescinds Technical Foul
Angel Reese is likely thanking her lucky stars right about now, considering the WNBA rescinded the technical foul she received while playing against the Portland Fire on August 28. All eyes had been on Reese since the middle of July 2026, when she received her seventh technical foul against the Seattle Storm.
Reese was called for a technical foul in the fourth quarter of yesterday’s game against the Portland Fire.
It was her eighth of the season, and under league rules, a player is suspended for one game after reaching that number and fined $1,500.
However, after the game, the WNBA rescinded the technical foul that would’ve put Reese over the limit. Sources confirmed the news to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou.
The Dream’s head coach, Karl Smesko, said after the game that the team planned to appeal the technical, saying “it didn’t look like something that was tech-worthy.”
“She’s been really good. She went a long time without getting a technical … she was doing a great job,” he said.

Reese’s technical being rescinded by the league is good news for Atlanta, which faces the No. 1 Minnesota Lynx on August 30.
Reese’s presence on the floor will be needed for the Georgia-based team, which is looking to finish the season with as many wins as possible before the postseason begins.
Reese leads the league in double-doubles (28), tying Alyssa Thomas’ record for most in a single season, set in 2024.

4The Atlanta Dream are heading into this year’s WNBA playoffs with one goal in mind: winning. According to The Blast, the Dream recently signed 2x WNBA champion DeWanna Bonner to a rest-of-the-season contract after she reached a buyout agreement with the Phoenix Mercury.
Phoenix general manager Nick U’Ren said they were willing to part ways with Bonner so that she can “chase a title in what could be her final postseason.”
Bonner is excited about the recent change, saying, “At this stage of my career, I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m grateful to the Mercury for giving me the opportunity to play in what could be one of my final postseason opportunities.”
Reese Says Bonner’s Addition To The Team Will Be A Positive Change
4Reese is looking forward to working alongside Bonner for the first time, telling USA Today that the former Indiana Fever player will provide some more veteran leadership to the team. “She’s a two-time champion. So, that also helps as well. Knowing what it takes to be a champion. Me, also, for my first time going into the playoffs, understanding what it’s gonna look like for me,” she said.
In addition, Reese knows Bonner’s versatility on the court will help their team in the long run, too. “She’s played three, played the four, played the two. She can do it all. She also plays well defensively, too. So I just think (she) brings more size, more length, and I’m sure she’s excited to come here and be here, too,” Reese added.
Reese Unveils Two Striking New Colors Of Her Signature Shoe
4Throughout Reese’s remaining games in her third WNBA season, the LSU alum will be seen wearing two striking new colors of her signature Reebok shoe. According to a press release sent to The Blast, Reese and Reebok will launch the Aqua and Metal Green colorways on August 31.
In a statement, Reese said the two bold colors are meant to directly represent her versatility and style. “My style has always been about versatility, having fun and wearing what makes me feel confident, and I bring that same mindset to every new design. Tapping into this season’s top fashion trends, ‘Metal Green’ and ‘Aqua’ reimagine the Angel Reese 1 in this fall’s defining colors and give people two distinct ways to make a statement,” she said.
