Top commander in Hamas naval police, Oct. 7 terrorist killed in recent strikes – IDF
A top commander in Hamas’s naval police and a Hamas terrorist who invaded Israel during the October 7, 2023, onslaught were among four terrorists killed in recent strikes in the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces announced Sunday.
A strike on Friday targeted Mansour Sami Mahmoud Shahtout, the commander of Hamas’s naval police in the Central Camps, according to the military.
Two other commanders in the naval police who were with Shahtout in the targeted vehicle were killed in the strike, the military said.
The IDF said the naval police “operates under Hamas’s military wing and advances and directs terror attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel.”
The IDF said Shahtout recently worked to advance attacks on Israeli troops. All three operatives “were traveling in a vehicle while armed with weapons, and as such posed a threat to IDF troops operating in the Gaza Strip,” the army added.

In addition, a strike on Wednesday in Gaza City’s Shati Camp killed Abd al-Rahman Maher Abd al-Karim Ziyada, who the IDF said was a commander of a Nukhba Force cell in Hamas’s military wing.
“The terrorist infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre and looted an IDF vehicle, taking it into the Gaza Strip,” the military said. Several army jeeps were taken by Hamas terrorists into Gaza during the onslaught.
He was also photographed celebrating on October 7 next to a captured IDF tank, from which soldiers were abducted. The tank remained on the border after being disabled.
A separate strike on Wednesday, in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, killed a Hamas tunnel expert. The military said it targeted Kamal Muhammad Hamdan Najar, head of the tunnel unit in the Khan Younis area.
The IDF said that throughout the war and recently, both terror operatives tried to advance attacks on troops, and therefore they “posed an immediate threat to the forces and were eliminated in precise strikes.”
The updates came after, on Saturday, the IDF said another Hamas terrorist, the nephew of former Hamas politburo leader Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in a strike on Thursday,
According to the military, Walid Haniyeh was the deputy commander of an elite Nukhba Force company in Hamas’s military wing and invaded Israel on October 7.
The IDF has for more than two and a half years sought out and targeted terrorists involved in the October 7 attack, which killed 1,200 people, saw 251 people taken hostage, and launched the Gaza war.
Despite an October 2025 ceasefire, Israel continues to carry out near-daily strikes across Gaza, saying it is targeting Hamas operatives and responding to violations of the truce.
Since the ceasefire went into effect, Israel has killed more than 1,030 people in Gaza, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run Health Ministry, whose figures are unverified and which does not differentiate between civilians and combatants.
The enclave is split between Israeli and Hamas control, and on Friday, hundreds gathered to protest Hamas despite threats from the terror group.
